Stand Up Paddleboarding or SUP is the fastest growing water sport to date. There’s nothing like the feeling of standing on the water. Unlike a canoe or kayak, where you sit low in the water, a stand up paddle board utilizes your upright stance to minimize the glare off the water, giving you an unobstructed view of the water and it’s wildlife. It isn’t rare to see fish, turtles and even beavers swimming right underneath you while stand up paddle boarding. Stand Up Paddleboarding is a very easy sport to pick up. It doesn’t matter how old you are or how fit you are. In calm waters it will only take a few minutes to get going. So what do you do if you want to continue SUPing after your first lesson and you don’t have a board? You could purchase your very own stand up paddle board, unless you live in condo or apartment. The average SUP is 10’6”, so it will not fit in a typical condo storage unit or in an elevator. Another challenge with a SUP board is transporting it. You will need to have roof racks on your vehicle or a pick up truck to get your board to the beach. They are awkward to carry and can cause damage to your vehicle when trying to put them up on your roof.

There is an easier way to continue the stoke of stand up paddle boarding, you can always rent a SUP board from a local school. Many locations will rent you a board and everything you will need to get you out on the water including paddle, leashes and lifejackets. You can even purchase a multiple rental pass that will save you money in the long run. Renting a SUP is trouble free and much easier then lugging your own board to the beach when you want to paddle. The average price for an hourly rental is $25. Purchasing a 10 Pass will be even more cost effective.
